PhotosApp Help
What PhotosApp Uses Google Access For
PhotosApp uses Google authorization only for user-facing features that you request inside the App. Depending on the flow you use, PhotosApp may:
- identify your connected Google account so saved accounts can be labeled and selected
- let you select specific Google Photos items through Google Photos Picker
- upload local photos or videos to Google Photos
- download or export selected Google Photos items
- create, read, and update app-created albums or media metadata
- transfer selected media from one saved Google account to another
Remove a Google Account From PhotosApp
To remove a saved Google account from PhotosApp:
- Open PhotosApp.
- Go to Settings.
- Find the saved Google account you want to remove.
- Choose Remove.
This removes the saved local PhotosApp session for that account. It does not revoke PhotosApp's access in your Google account and it does not delete items already stored in Google Photos.
Revoke PhotosApp's Access in Your Google Account
If you want Google to stop allowing PhotosApp to access your Google account and Google Photos data, revoke the App's access from your Google account settings.
- Open your Google account security and connected-app permissions settings.
- Find PhotosApp in the list of connected apps or third-party access.
- Choose the option to remove or revoke access.
For a complete disconnect, remove the account from PhotosApp and revoke access in your Google account settings.
Delete Local PhotosApp Data
PhotosApp stores operational data locally on your device, such as saved account sessions, job history, queue state, transfer checkpoints, and temporary working files.
On macOS, local app data may be stored in your user Library, including the system Keychain and PhotosApp's Application Support folder.
- Quit PhotosApp.
- Remove saved accounts from within the App if possible.
- Delete exported or downloaded files from the folders you chose, if you no longer want them.
- Delete PhotosApp's local application data from your device if you want to remove local job history, checkpoints, and caches.

Delete Items Uploaded or Created in Google Photos
Items that you upload to Google Photos through PhotosApp are stored in your Google Photos account. If you want to delete those items, you must delete them in Google Photos.
Important: removing a Google account from PhotosApp does not delete previously uploaded or transferred items from Google Photos.
Delete Items Imported Into Apple Photos
If you imported downloaded items into Apple Photos, delete them in the Apple Photos app or in your Apple Photos library using Apple's own controls.
Delete Exported or Downloaded Files
Files that PhotosApp exported or downloaded to a folder on your Mac remain in the destination folder you selected until you delete them. To remove them, delete them from that folder in Finder.
Data Sharing and Limited Use
PhotosApp uses Google user data only to provide the features you request in the App. We do not sell Google user data, use it for advertising, or use it to train generalized machine learning or artificial intelligence models.
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy .
Troubleshooting
If a Google account stops working in PhotosApp, remove the saved account, reconnect it, and confirm that the account still grants PhotosApp access in your Google account settings.
